For professionals

Mediation and training

Somewhere to send a case that has stopped moving, and training for the people who work those cases.

If you are a solicitor, a mediation service, an HR lead or a community organisation, this page is for you. If you are in a dispute yourself, the mediation pages below will be more use.

Mediation

Three kinds of case

All conducted online, which means parties who have moved apart, moved abroad or cannot be in the same building can still sit down together.

Family mediation

Separation and divorce, finances, property, and arrangements for children. Starts with a MIAM for each party, held separately.

MIAM £175 per person

Family mediation

Civil and commercial mediation

Contract and payment disputes, business partnerships, landlord and tenant, neighbour and boundary matters, and inheritance disagreements.

MIAM £175 per person

Civil mediation

Community mediation

Neighbours, residents' committees and community associations, in Spain and further afield. Conducted in English or Spanish.

MIAM £175 per person

Community mediation

Most family cases resolve in two to three joint sessions — typically well under £1,000 per person in total, and considerably faster than proceedings. Joint sessions are £250 per person and the Memorandum of Understanding is £150 per person.

If you are referring

What happens when you send someone to me

You send them the link, or their details

Either works. If you send me their details I make contact; if you send them the link they book the MIAM themselves.

Each party is seen separately first

Forty-five to sixty minutes, with a report included. It establishes whether mediation is suitable and whether both parties are able to take part freely.

You hear back

If your client consents, I confirm whether the case is proceeding and on what basis. What is said inside the mediation stays inside it — I will not report on the content.

It closes with a written record

A Memorandum of Understanding setting out what was agreed. It is not a court order, and I do not advise either party on making it binding. That is your part.

Two things worth saying plainly

I am neutral. I do not act for either party, I do not advise either party, and I will not take instructions from a referrer about an outcome.

I do not pay for referrals from professionals, and I do not ask professionals to pay me for them.

CPD accredited

The Psychology of Mediation

Mediation training teaches process, law and skills. It rarely teaches what happens inside the mediator, or the psychology driving the parties. Seven independent modules fill that gap — each one short, practical, built around real mediation scenarios, and carrying its own CPD certificate.

01When the Room Gets Personal — transference and countertransference
02The Body in the Room — somatic attunement for mediators
03Reciprocal Roles — CAT tools for high-conflict parties
04Shame, Blame and Defence — strong emotion at the table
05Attachment and Separation — what is really going on in family mediation
06When Affairs Come to Mediation — infidelity, betrayal and sexual issues
07Using Yourself in Supervision — reflective practice

In-house

Delivered to your team

Any module can be run for a mediation service, a family law team, a chambers or an HR function — online or in person, with CPD hours included. The value of doing it in-house is that everybody ends up with the same language for it, rather than one person coming back with notes nobody else can use.

FormatHalf day, or a full day for two modules. Online or at your offices.
Group sizeUp to sixteen, so there is time to practise rather than only listen.
CPDAccredited, with individual certificates for every attendee.
TailoringCase material can be drawn from the work your team actually does, anonymised.
FeeQuoted per engagement, depending on length, format and travel.

Whether it is a case you are not sure is suitable, or training you are not sure your team needs, a short conversation will settle it faster than a brochure.
